The singer famously battled drug addiction for years (see related links below).
Houston was seen out in Hollywood Thursday night for a Grammy party … and she did not look well (below). She even briefly took the mic and performed a song while she was there — what would become her last performance. See the video here.
Houston won two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards during her record-breaking career. Her album “Whitney” was the first female album to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard Charts. She has sold 200 million albums worldwide.
Houston had one child, Bobbi Kristina, with husband Bobby Brown. Houston and Brown were married from 1992-2007.

Sources tell TMZ, Whitney Houston “partied heavily” last night at the Beverly HIlton hotel where she was staying, drinking and chatting loudly with friends in the bar — but Cissy Houston and Dionne Warwick claim the singer sounded fine just hours before her death.
We’re told Bobby Brown is distraught over Whitney’s death — going “in and out of crying fits.” His band New Edition tells us, they are “shocked and saddened.”
Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party — which Whitney was supposed to open — is going on as scheduled this evening, though Clive will not be in attendance.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, police are currently seeking a search warrant to investigate the hotel room where Whitney was found dead. One item they’ll be looking out for — drugs.

Beverly Hills police have sealed off the room where Whitney Houston died and will not enter until they obtain a search warrant … TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell us … the police want to conduct a thorough search of the hotel room, but are exercising caution by getting a warrant. We’re told one thing police are interested in is whether drugs are present in the room.
Although police could seize items in plain view, we’re told they want a top-to-bottom search of the room.
Beverly Hills cops entered the room in response to the 911 call when emergency workers gave Whitney CPR, but we’re told aside from a cursory look around the room … they conducted no search.

The passing of Whitney Houston has hit the band New Edition hard, as one would expect, and they are all praying for her family … the band tells TMZ.
In a statement, the group tells TMZ, “We are absolutely shocked and saddened by the sudden and untimely death of our dear sister Whitney. As a group, we are extremely close; when one of us hurts, we all hurt.”
Bobby Brown, Whitney’s ex-husband and father of her only child, is a member of the band.
They continue, “As much as we are in pain right now, we will continue to draw strength from God, as we support and comfort our brother Bobby, their daughter Bobbi-Christina and Whitney’s mother Cissy Houston. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the entire Brown-Houston family today and always.”
As TMZ first reported, Brown is with the group in Mississippi where they have a show scheduled this evening. As of now, it will go on as planned.

Clive Davis‘ annual pre-Grammy party is going on tonight as scheduled … despite the death of Whitney Houston … sources close to Davis tell TMZ.
According to our sources, while the party will go on … Davis is not in attendance.
Our sources say Davis is currently at his home in Los Angeles. We’re told he is surrounded by close friends.
The party is currently taking place at the Beverly Hilton, where Houston was found dead earlier today. She was scheduled to open the party.
